Fellow Gamers,

Any hot tips for game shops in the Brugge and Waterloo area. My family and I are taking a few days to visit Brugge and the Waterloo battlefield and wanted to know if there where any game shops that happened to be in area--a small detour into the game shop is always fun.

Any tips would be appreciated. Lastly, what are the keywords for google, map, etc. searches in the local language(s).

Cheers,

H6

De Krokodil also has a few games in their stock, plus it's a beautifull store.

If you visit those areas, driving in from Germany, you're bound to pass by Leuven on the E40

www.spelfanaat.be/shops.php

It's got a ton of games and the guys who run it are really friendly and knowledgeable

Biovita is not in the center of Bruges, but it's a nice shop.
Adress for De Krokodil: Sint Jakobsstraat 47, 8000 Brugge (the games are in the back of the store)

There's also De Banier (Katelijnestraat 67 8000 Brugge) and De Striep, which is mostly a comic book store, but they have a small selection of board games (Katelijnestraat 42 8000 Brugge)

Both of the last shops I mentionned are in the same street. And you'll probably walk through this street, since the "Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk" (huge church) is nearby + the smallest street in Bruges + beerbrewery "De Halve Maan".

Enjoy your trip!

Fellow Gamers,

Thanks for the tips. I visited all three in Brugge. What a beautiful city Brugge was. Waterloo was a bit disappointing, due to the weather. I did not do much wandering around, but I did go walk to Hougemont.

Until the next time...

Cheers,

H6

Indeed, it seems the website for 'La Vache aux Yeux Bleus has gone'...
I did not had the possibity to visit that one. But I can suggest you a few alternatives in the area - if you plan to visit if you plan to visit Waterloo
Braine-l'Alleud : La petite récré (10min drive)
Nivelles: Le Zèbre à pois (20min drive)
These two are mainly toy stores which I visited once or twice; they sell a decent selection of recent boardgames (for Asmodee tiles for instance, as it is the main French language distributor).
Louvain-La-Neuve: "La Case Départ" 20min drive from Waterloo; this one is a specialized one: with modern eurogames, specialized iterms LCG, a few miniatures, and plenty of events (gaming nights, painting workshops, etc.)

If you look for particular stuff (i.e. wargames, RPG, English titles, Wings of War minis, etc.), you want to go in Brussels to visit one of the most ancient shops of the hobby: L'Antre-Jeux (note their website is partly in English has not been updated in months)

I hope this helps

Actually, "La vache aux yeux bleus" has been taken over by "Le zèbre à pois" in Waterloo and has moved. These are their two address:

Place Emile de Lalieux 9 - 1400 Nivelles

and

Chée de Bruxelles 294 - 1410 Waterloo
