I'm going to be in Hubbard, Ohio, for Christmas and most of the following week. I will be in Cleveland and Columbus making some business calls during that week. Are there any good game stores in either area that I need to check out?

Can't speak for Cleveland, but Columbus has 4 that I know of.

- Go Games at Polaris Mall (far north side of town). Has some euros, mystery party stuff, puzzles, etc. No wargames, RPG, or CCG stuff to speak of beyond the standard Magic/YuGiOh.

- The Soldiery. On High St. Just S of Henderson Rd, behind The Laughing Ogre comic shop (north-central). Haven't been there in a while, but they had a pretty good selection of wargames, minis, and CCGs IIRC.

- Ravenstone Games. On Karl Ct. just S of Rt. 161 (northeast). Good selection of minis, euros, rpg stuff, and CCGs. I don't recall seeing a lot of wargames.

- The Guardtower. On Trabue Rd. between Riverside/33 and Wilson (west). Good selection of minis, euros, CCGs, wargames, and RPG stuff. Probably my favorite of the four and probably the most comprehensive selection of all of them, IMHO.

You can also hit Hobbyland for some euros and wargames.

If CCG in bulk is your thing, WestPointe Video sells popular CCGs (Magic/Pokemon/YuGiOh) and WizKids stuff at a bit of a discount. This is in the WestPointe Plaza at the intersection of I-70 and Hilliard-Rome Rd. (far west)

One more thing; if you're in Columbus Friday evening, December 30th, you might want to check out CABS - the Columbus Area Boardgamers Society. We meet at New Market Mall on the evenings of 1st/3rd/5th Friday of the month. You can generally get a game of whatever you want in the euro or warging genres there. No CCG or roleplayers, but plenty of everything else. We've been running 60-80 people per meeting lately, so getting a game will be no problem. Drop me a message for details if you're interested.

Cleveland Area Game Stores:

I'm Game in Great Northern Mall
West of 71 on 480, Great Northern Blvd. North Olmstead.
Probably the best selection Eurogames. Good gaming space and an in-store library so that you can try before you buy. Small selection of CCGs and nothing in the way of minis but there's another store in the mall that tailers to the mini crowd.

Gamer's Haven
Middleburg Heights just east of the 71/bagley rd exit at the intersection of Pearl and Smith rd.
Fair selection of board games lots of Minitures and RPGs

Warzone Matrix
Just north of the Airport on Rt. 237
Good selection of Eurogames if a little cluttered. This store offers the best selection in "gaming" Minitures, CCGs, board games, etc. The owner also has a limited selection of games that are out of print (i.e. Heroquest and the like)

Newbury, OH

Has the best selection of Euro games I have seen. Not a very nice looking place though, and very smoky.

On-line game store with a Cleveland “store”:

Hobbies and Games http://tinylink.com/?r0dtdgVNOr
3739 Lowell Rd
Cleveland Ht's, OH 44121
216-381-5009

This is my favorite on-line game store, it’s a local thing. This place will have most every game you could want but, there is no showroom or storefront. You can use the link above to order your games and add a note that you would like to pick the up. He’ll meet you at the side door of the house with your game order and receipt; pay on the spot and save all that shipping time and money. The prices are really quite good. The owner is Ron and, he works a regular job during the day. That means that calls to the phone number listed will only be answered, by a human, in the evening.

I know this one is pretty good Violet Vortex, www.violet Vortex, I think it is near Columbus. you can get the address off the internet at www.violetvortex.com
I am not sure what their site has, but the store itself have many euro games and a good selection.

and a good place to check gameshops in any state or some countries is to go to www.riograndegames.com and click on Shops. We always check that before we leave for a trip to see if there is any game stores near where where we are going or on the way to where we are going. =)

Kenmore Komics & Games was already mentioned and I can vouch for it being a great store. If you are driving from Cleveland to Columbus, it's not too far out of the way. Just take I-77 south out of Cleveland, instead of I-71, then you can catch I-76 west to get back over to I-71. Only about 15 miles extra on the trip--and well worth it. Check out their website for more info.
