IDs must be reported privately to your tournament organizer.

Do not post them to the score reporting thread.

They will be entered at the end of round.

___
Players are cautioned that there is a negative social sentiment surrounding IDs right now -- but the rules for this event state you may ID if both players agree.

If an ID is offered and refused, the game needs to be scheduled and played.

Thursday Morning, Round 6

If you're having difficulty contacting your opponent, today's the day to give your TO a heads up (and then keep trying):

US: byronczimmer
EUR: shobalk

Early contact helps us adjudicate conflicts later.

Enjoy your final games in the Swiss Rounds

We are approaching the finals and are preparing for a smooth transition into the SE Bracket portion of the event.

US and EUR Action Required (see red text)

Voluntary Non-participation in SE Bracket
If you are potentially in the running to advance into the international finals event, but for any reason do not want to or cannot participate in the SE portion of the event, please notify your appropriate tournament organizers prior to the Tuesday Bracket Roll Deadline.

As this is a 32 person SE bracket, you are potentially signing up for 4-5 weeks of play. We want to make sure that everyone that makes the cut wants to participate and will be able to do so. Leaving isn't bad and gives others a chance to participate if you know now that you will be unable to continue.

Please do not notify us if you intend to stay in, only notify us if you intend to bow out. Essentially the SE bracket is 'opt out'.

Also, please do not announce if you are leaving until after scores are posted and the Swiss portion is over. Shobalk and I will collect any voluntary bow-outs and post them on Tuesday when we close the Swiss portion of the Event.

SE Setup
Because it will take a little time to get set up, the International 32 bracket may not be prepared until Tuesday night. We ask your patience.

SE Running
First game Role selection
Top seed will choose their role (Corp or Runner) first in the rounds of 32, 16 and 8. We consider this the reward for doing well in the Swiss rounds.
Flip of a coin will determine who selects their role first in the semi-final and final rounds.

Sudden Death
During the SE bracket, matches are 'sudden death', which means:
The winner of game 1 only has to score more agenda in game 2 than the loser did in game 1 to win the match.
If the first two games of a match result in an absolute tie, a third game will be played where the person who didn't pick role in game 1 chooses in game 3.

Score Reporting and Match Scheduling
Remember that we are now entering an international tournament - and that in the first round EVERY match is going to cross the ocean. Be mindful of this when scheduling, be explicit in your offset from GMT and be willing to do matches in the morning, later at night or on weekends as needed.

Because this is an SE bracket, once the scores are posted, they will be entered by a TO or TA.

Once a match is available to be played (because all games prior to it have been played), the match may be played. We'll manage this one as needed - and still have 'no later than' dates for each round.

If a match is not played by its 'no later than date', we'll have to mediate it, and here's the guidelines we'll use.

Non-responsive opponent
Just as we've been doing for the rest of the event: If one player of a match has been non-responsive and the opponent has notified the TOs and kept them informed, the person in contact will advance.

No-shows
If both players are in contact, schedule a match and one is unable to make it - then the match should be rescheduled if there is still time. If the match is not held, the no-show will not advance. An opponent has to not show up for at least an hour to be considered a no-show, and the TOs request that players be nice and understanding about this one. Likewise, if you schedule a match, be available for it. (We'll be monitoring this one fairly closely.)

Unplayed Matches
If a match is not played and the TOs haven't heard anything from either participant, both will be dropped and the next round opponent gets an automatic advancement. Please don't do this.

OTHER STUFF

Casting
Numerous people have offered to record and cast finals matches. We'll be having them post their instructions in the Chatter thread (and then copy it back to the Announce thread). If you're interested in this opportunity, please contact them.

Participation Badge
I'll be submitting the request for badge distribution once the SE Bracket is properly launched and settled.
If your team name in Challonge is wrong, you are less likely to get a badge. Make it match your BGG_ID if you haven't already.

I can't require this, but I recommend thumbing this post so I know who's actually read it.

Following have not accepted the finals bracket invitation, please do so at your earliest convenience. If I got your challonge ID wrong, please correct me in geek mail.

hollis (invitation sent) --- Just remembered you're 'hollisg' and subbed that ID in.
EulenNatzer (invitation sent)
Shobalk (invitation sent)
Beduin (invitation sent)
Unnar (invitation sent)

I will 'start' the SE bracket as soon as all players have accepted invites.

To the best of my knowledge, the bracket is 'set' - unless we get a bow-out, so you can schedule and play your games.

We'll have a reporting location soon.

I am still waiting for one person to check in before locking the bracket:

16) Unnar (BGG: Sunbro) TOP 16

As we are approaching the Thursday morning 'difficulty contacting opponent' deadline, I have taken the liberty of contacting the 17th and 18th seeds from the European bracket:

17) drinkink
18) Redgarex

If Unnar makes contact by Thursday morning, he's in.
If he doesn't and drinkink makes contact, he gets the slot.
If BOTH don't and Redgarex makes contact, then he gets the slot.

Because this is the EUR 16 slot, it will not affect any other pairings (thank goodness).

Round of 32 is go

Though I think players were already acting this way -- the Finals has officially kicked off and all players have checked in.

The Bracket has been started and reminders from Challonge should have been sent out.

A note on reading the bracket:

A victory is worth 10 points and is being marked in a single game instead of the 7/3 split we used during Swiss, because Prestige Points don't matter any more.

There are three possible outcomes for a round report:

Example 1:
Anne scores 4 Agenda Points and is then flatlined by Bob.
Game 1: Anne 4, Bob Win
Bob then scores 5 Agenda points on a lucky turn one Maker's Eye.

BOB WINS THE MATCH IMMEDIATELY because Anne cannot exceed Bob's Agenda Total.

Note: The players can choose to finish the game, but even if Agenda are lost due to forfeits (Data Dealer, Archer), it does not affect the match results.
This match ended the moment Bob scored more than 4 Agenda points (Anne's Agenda total in game 1).

In this case, the score will look like Bob has an orange '2' and Anne has a grey '0'. Bob advances.

Example 2:
Anne scores 4 Agenda Points and is then beaten by a normal Agenda win by Bob.
Game 1: Anne 4, Bob Win
Bob then scores 3 Agenda Points before Anne flatlines him.
Game 2: Anne win, Bob 3

Anne wins this match

In this case, the score will look like Bob has a grey '1' and Anne has an orange '1'. Anne advances.

Example 3:
Anne scores 4 Agenda Points and is then beaten by a normal Agenda win by Bob.
Game 1: Anne 4, Bob Win
Bob then scores 4 Agenda points before Anne scores the game winning Agenda.

After 2 games, the players are tied 14-14.

They play a 3rd game - whomever wins this game (for whatever reason) wins the match, regardless of Agenda scored.

In this case the winner of the third game will have an orange '2' and the loser of the third game will have a grey '1'. The winner of game 3 advances.

-=-=-=-=-

I'll put out the standard Thursday morning call for scheduling difficulties and Monday morning call for match-holding difficulties.

Have fun with your matches!

Post your Scheduled match times on the Chatter Thread

During the Finals events, please post your agreed upon time for matches to the Chatter thread.

This will assist DB0 in possibly joining your game in order to record/cast it.

He has also posted instructions on how to just record your match for later in his blog here:
http://dbzer0.com/blog/making-androidnetrunner-videos

And finally - it lets me know who's active (or not).

Thank you.

Thursday Morning, Round A (Finals Round of 32)

If you're having difficulty contacting your opponent, today's the day to give your TO a heads up (and then keep trying):

Tournament Organizer: byronczimmer

Early contact helps us adjudicate conflicts later.

Enjoy your games!

Notes:
I've already received 2 (of 16 games) notifications of difficulty contacting opponents. That shouldn't be happening with the finals brackets.

Also, even though matches that open up may be played early, the Round of 32 games still have to be completed no later than the Tuesday deadline.

The world is watching.

Round B & Round C Games

Remember that if a match is 'ready', that it can be played - no need to wait until Tuesday to start the communication process.

Round D games (the final 4)

Please do not to play these early - wait until we get all caught up. We definitely want the final 4, finals and bronze matches recorded.

From the sounds of it, there's been a lot of really competitive games happening!

Standardized Game Name for Finals Rounds:

DbZer0 wrote:
TOs can you decide on a lobby standard name and inform people for the next round? Everyone is putting something slightly different

Per DBzero's request...

Game names should be:

BGG Tournament 2, Round [Round #]: [USER1] VS [USER2] - Match [Match #]

Where:

Round #
A (for the Round of 32)
B (for the Round of 16)
C (for the Round of 8)
D (for the Round of 4) (aka semi finals)
E (for the Round of 2) (aka finals)

We're going to have a bronze match so we have clear delineation of 3rd and 4th place, which is also a 'round E' event.

Example of a correct Room name:

Quote:
BGG Tournament 2, Round B: DbZer0 VS byronczimmer - Match 1

Please cut/paste the above going forward.

(and a note: for T3, we're going to have a shorter ID string, but not yet)

First one is correct
Second one is not correct

And on a reread I see how that was confusing, so I updated it.

Continue to Report on the current geeklist entry

Please continue to report/verify scores on the current Geeklist entry for Round A, B and C (32, 16 and 8).

Though we're holding on verification of 2 matches, I'll enter them later Monday evening.

Round B matches (or Round C as they open up) can be scheduled, played and reported as you are able. Deadlines are still in effect as posted in the geeklist item (the next two Tuesdays), we are not moving them forward.

Remember that this weekend is Easter, which may make weekend scheduling difficult for those who observe it.

Thursday Morning, Round B (Finals Round of 16)

If you're having difficulty contacting your opponent, today's the day to give your TO a heads up (and then keep trying):

Tournament Organizer: byronczimmer

Early contact helps us adjudicate conflicts later.

(Note that half of the games have already been reported, so this is more of a formality at this point as the field shrinks.)

Remember it's Easter Weekend, so there may be difficulty scheduling during that time -- keep me informed and we'll see where we are Monday Morning.

Enjoy your games!

Tournament Organizer Outage

With Easter weekend approaching, please be aware that I will be out of pocket starting Friday evening and though I'm sure I'll pack my computer up for the trip to family, do not anticipate I'll be overly active across the weekend. I'll pick up any lingering issues Monday Morning, but believe we're in good shape with regards to getting the last 4 games of round B scheduled.

As long as a round B match score has been verified, round C matches that become available are eligible to be played, even if I haven't entered the scores on Challonge.

Please do not run any matches in the final 4 (round D) 'early'. Once all preliminaries are complete we'll work on the final few games.

I'll see y'all over on Chatter.

Thursday

I haven't done this in a while, but...

Looks like all games are happening on schedule, so there hasn't been a need.

For those still watching the finals - be sure to check out DB0's awesome casting. The links are available in the Chatter thread.

To the final 4:
We would like all games from the semifinals, bronze and final matches to be recorded.

I would like the bronze match to happen prior to the finals match, just to keep things a little suspenseful.

I'll be scheduling time on the laser cutter this weekend to cut the prizes.

The first Tournament was blue.

If those in the semifinals have a color preference, they should geekmail me and if there's any kind of a majority preference, I'll cater to it. I'm working through a sample pack I ordered so color selection goes down a bit each time I cut something. I think I have some reds available, and that's my go-to for this round.
