Hi,

I occasionally get to go on business travel to La Jolla near San Diego. The last few trips I have been trying to hunt down some good games shops but the best I have found is Target of all places. Now as San Diego is home to comicon I was hoping there might be some better games emporiums or specialist shops around.

Does anyone have any suggestions? A quick search of the forums didnt yield any results.

Cheers

Richard

You'll get good answers in the San Diego guild.

I'm in North County San Diego, so the best local shop is Pair A Dice. They carry a nice selection of board games. There are probably other similar ones closer to downtown.

However, be prepared to pay full price. If you're looking for a discount, order them from Amazon or the usual online suspects.

Yep, Pair A Dice in north county or Game Empire in Clairemont Mesa if you're a little more central. Both have great selections, both charge retail.

When I lived in San Diego, I used to hit Game Towne (in Old Town) occasionally.

At the time, they had a decent wargame selection and plenty of Euros.

If memory serves, though, don't expect any discounts.

The closest to La Jolla will be Game Empire or Game Towne. Pair A Dice is a looooong drive from La Jolla.

Having visited San Diego a few times, I would recommend Game Empire for a vast selection of board games, but Game Towne (in old Town) is nice to visit (and have a descent selection a well) on the weekends due to the vast amount of other small shops in the area.

Agreed. Pair a Dice is a good 40 minute drive away, but their selection is better than Game Empire. Game Empire is only about at 10-15 minute drive from La Jolla.

Great, thanks for all the recommendations guys, very much appreciated. I get out every 3-4 months.

I actually get most of my Euro's online in the UK from discount internet firms but occasionally you see things elsewhere that you like to pick up. For me its the opportunity to use up the weekend other than the shopping list my partner gives me for kid clothes...

Thanks

Richard
