Online searches only really came up with Underground Games. Would this be good for board games or are there other places to go?

I'll be in town working a karting trade show in Hickory at the end of the month.

Cool site, thanks!

In this instance it had one hit, 31 miles away from Charlotte, Skirmishes Games & Hobbies. I'll try and check it out when I'm there. I also like how you can get some stores along your travel path.

I live in Charlotte... and that information you got is outdated.

Skirmishes is no more cry

Underground Games is your only bet here and they don't have much unless you're into CCGs or Star Wars minis.

There is another place in Fort Mill, SC (about a half-hour drive from Charlotte) called Above Board Games but I've never been there so I can't say if its any good or not.

Say it ain't so. What happened? And when did it happen? Didn't Kirk just move to a new space a couple months ago?

He did and it didn't seem to help any. I'm not sure if it was just losing money or his professional vet career made it impossible to manage any longer. From their former website (http://www.skirmishes.net):

" This site will be for all gamers displaced by the closing of the Skirmishes Gaming Center."

Trust me, this really sucks. He was the only place in Charlotte that carried Reaper miniatures

Great Place. He is starting to get into Board Games. Right now he has some games and CCG /Mini games (most places bread and butter) but he will order anything special for you. He places orders on tuesdays and you can have your game by Friday. That is nice.

He ordered me Gloom and Zombies!!!

Hope this gets him more business. Stop by and say hello and maybe play a game or two, he has some tables set up and has drinks and snacks. Having moved up here from WPB Florida it is nice to find a game store that will help you get that hard to find game.

I live in Charlotte and there aren't any game stores, for all intents and purposes who cater to anyone except the CCG and mini folks...Underground Games will order anything you want, but I'm one of those guys that thinks if I've got to order it, I might as well order online (it takes about the same amount of time)...Sword and Grail is good though, I've always managed to find something to buy when I'm in Asheville (but this happens so rarely) and visit S & G... sorry for the bum news...shake

There are several Charlotte area stores now...

Above Board Games in Fort Mill, SC (just south of Charlotte)
http://www.aboveboardgames.net/

Games HQ In Charlotte on Freedom Dr.
http://gameshqonline.com

There is also Underground Games in Pineville as well as The Drop Zone in Gastonia. Both of those cater to minis and CCGs also have board games.

I highly recommend the first two.

Also a little less local but still...

Comic Monstore in Salisbury
http://www.comicmonstore.com/
They have some games

and I am sure you know about

Time Tunnel Comics
www.timetunnelcomics.com
I am not sure how many games they have.

Just for an update... Parker Banner Kent and Wayne in Cornelius carries 100s of board games along with all the normal things you would find in a comic shop.

I have to say the best board gaming store in my opinion is PBK&W located in North Charlotte by Lake Norman. The others mentioned locally are not bad, but PBK&W just does it a little better.

Another vote for Parker, Banner, Kent, and Wayne. They are a full on comic and game store.
I have another suggestion. Why not hang around for the weekend and attend MACE in Charlotte?

Mid-Atlantic Convention Expo
The Carolinas`Best Gaming Con
November 02 - 04, 2012
Hilton Charlotte University Place
Charlotte, NC
Full Weekend Registration only $25 and the schedule of games is online.

A new game store just opened two days ago in Matthews:

Your Local Game Store

I went there last night to play games with a group. The store has a nice mix of recent and classic games, and the owners are friendly gamers.
