Likes: Complex, Strategic, Multiple Victory Routes, Medium Length (~2-3hrs), Long length (0.5-1 day), Good Production (and 'overproduction'), involved mechanics (typically not simple/elegant mechanics)
Dislikes: Simple, Short length (< 1hr), 'humourous', identifiable best strategy, Co-op, real-time, high random factor, completely deterministic (or zero random factor), social-deduction, party games.
My 'Top' and 'Hot' lists are just of boardgames (not CCGs, miniatures wargames and RPG's) all of which deserve their own lists IMO. If I were forced to integrate them, then I have to say Mage Wars, Pathfinder, 40k and MtG would have the top 4 slots, with most others falling to RPG's and CCG's (back to game length and complexity!). Mage Wars (which is really a skimish minis game that happens to played on a board with cards) is the only thing close to a 'proper' boardgame that would make my Top 10. I also exclude Mage Wars and Through the Ages from my 'Hot lists' - I play several games of each, each week, so they would permanently hold the top spots.
I also only list core games, and assume that they will be played with most/all expansions (and certainly played with any expansion of equal or higher score). If you look through my ratings, you will often find a game scoring 8 for the base game, and 9 with the expansion for example, and in that case I would never play it without. Of course other games have expansions that add little or nothing, and they are scored accordingly.
