The goal is to win; but we play to have fun - Me <-- I said that.
The world is what we make of it. So why not make it a better place?

Game on, have fun, play the games you like and indulge those special to you by playing the games they like.
Actually I came from more of a war gaming background. Very heavy strategy with lots of rules. I got into casual games because of kids, grandkids, my wife and just being sociable with friends; not everyone is into heavy games. I would say that I like a wide variety of games, from family casual to strategy and war games, to Euro and Ameri-Themed. I enjoy the company as much or more than the game itself. But a good themed war game, especially one with miniatures, is always fun.
When it comes to Euros, they often offer strategy without much (if any) conflict and/or luck. To me at least, there is a difference between enjoying something and having fun. Euro's can be enjoyable, but often lack actual 'whoo hoo, yeah fun' moment. Nevertheless when I'm in the mood for a thinking game, I find Euro's can be both enjoyable and satisfying.
I adapted this from somewhere on Board Game Geeks:
Quote: Amerigames are games that emphasize a highly developed theme, characters, heroes, or factions with individually defined abilities, player to player conflict, and usually feature a moderate to high level of luck. - Board Game Geeks This is also loosely adapted.
Quote: Eurogames usually have a theme but in some cases it goes unnoticed during play and is little more than cover art. Eurogames involve calculating efficiencies through strategic problem-solving while pushing, moving or exchanging abstract physical components (usually little wooden cubes) around in a system of resource management. The goal is often to be the most efficient player. Limited player interactions leads Eurogames to frequently be described as multi-player solitaire. However some Euro's can go beyond efficiency games if the theme is woven into the game mechanics and becomes part of the game. When that happens, it can be as much a fun ride and an Amerithemed game.
Wheee, I just added my first flag counter and I'm first.
