2064: Read Only Memories: A "deluxe" re-release with voice acting and enhanced story and puzzles.
Hayden Lives Theory:
Hayden's been researching how to upload his mind into a machine, and then he dies mysteriously offscreen, leaving no body. Parallax wanted Hayden silent, and someone acting in defense of Baby Blue wanted Hayden dead; his apartment TV is tuned to Augmented Eye and several tech blogs, so he might even have deduced that Otsuka had been killed. It's possible Hayden decided to transfer his mind into a machine (possibly Grace) and fake his own death at the same time. He likes using subcontractors to cover his tracks, just like he did with TOMCAT and Lips. The only loose thread is Turing - he likes the little guy, but can't have him spilling his guts to the cops or Parallax in the interim, and so leaves him in the dark.
1) Hacks Turing's auditory sensors to hear the door being kicked down, after telling him to flee and not to go to the police. When you go the crime scene just hours or minutes later, Hayden's door is in pristine condition, and none of his neighbors seem to have reported a door being kicked down in the night.
2) Uploads a fake video of him being shot in the hallway. Even his neighbors were okay with doors being smashed in the middle of the night, surely fighting and gunshots would have awakened them. And why would kidnappers, well-equipped enough to break into an upscale building and well-informed enough to kidnap a world-class programmer, even be carrying lethal weapons, rather than stun? And how did they clean up the blood (both TOMCAT and Turing view the footage and declare him dead, rather than unconscious). And where did they dispose of the body?
3) Transfers his mind to a ROM (possibly Grace). The procedure is not perfect; unable to control himself fully, Hayden flees into the darkness. Later that very night, witnesses report seeing a strange, caseless ROM careening wildly through the park, where it collides recklessly with a froyo stand and then disappears among the trees. No regular ROM would act this way, we are told, but a human mind in ROM body, trying desperately to keep himself together? An additional note here: under pressure from Parallax, the cops aren't doing a lot to look for Hayden (or his body), but Lexi's superiors have told her to make finding the froyo-busting ROM a top priority. Are they just giving her a hard time, or does someone at Parallax* know who that ROM really is?
You can get a secret ending by keeping the spoiled milk in your inventory until the very end... and then using it.
That milk saw, and knew everything.
The milk is the real evil.
