The Essener Feder (or "Goldenen Feder - Wanderpreis der Stadt Essen") is an award presented by the city of Essen, Germany since 1981 and a part of the Deutscher Spiele Preis. Awarded at the Spiel convention, this prize awards the best-written rulebook.
Until 1988 the prize was awarded by the jury of the Spiel des Jahres. Since 1990 the awards takes place in the context of the award of the Deutscher Spiele Preis. Due to this change of jury no prize was awarded in 1989.
