Top 100 Analysis

Whenever possible on Tuesdays, JonMichael Rasmus (jmsr525) will post a Top 100 Analysis (such as the one here for September 12, 2006). His monthly chart geeklists also use this nomenclature.

Weekly Analysis

The following sections appear in the weekly analysis each week.

The Top 100

The following terms are used in the weekly analysis to describe the regular chart for all games.

Prime Movers

Prime movers are defined as any game that has reached a certain threshhold of advance between the two charts being compared. On the weekly chart, the minimum increase needed is 5.

Falling Stars

Falling stars are defined as any game that has reached a certain threshhold of decline between the two charts being compared, while still remaining on the current chart. On the weekly chart, the minimum decrease needed is 5.

Hot Lava Birth

This is a listing of any game that is new to the current chart that was not on the prior chart.

Top Ten Trends

Any changes that occur in the top ten between the two charts being compared are documented here.

Top 5 Winning Movers

This is a listing of the top five games outside the top 10 that have increased by ANY amount even down to as few as one. If a game has appeared on this list consecutive times, it is noted.

New Highest Peaks

This is a listing of every game in the current top 100 that has moved into its highest position this week. It does not include games that have remained at their highest positions.

52 Weeks

This lists some interesting chart information about any game that has reached 52 weeks on the chart during that week.

Wargames

The following terms are used in the weekly analysis to describe the wargames chart.

Top Ten CATEGORY Games for WEEK

This is a listing, sorted by the BGG average of the top ten games and expansions that fall into a category. If this category has been used before, the games prior rating on this listing is used.

Small Run and New Games

The ten highest rated games by the BGG average with less than 200 total ratings are listed here as a way to keep track of new games as well as to spotlight existing games with few votes.

Additional Information

There will usually be some commentary on the charts each week. In addition, there is usually some pop cultural reference and a lyric from a popular song at the top of the page.

Monthly Charts

The following sections appear in the monthly analysis geeklist each month. These lists are usually posted on the last Tuesday of the month.

The following sections appear in the quarterly, semi-annual and annual analyses geeklists.
